While other examination panels are asking for qualifications galore and age and physical
fitness criteria for their candidates the CISCO panel has set a new precedent by setting zero prerequisites regarding qualifications or age limits for candidates applying for the CCENT certification exam. The CCENT certification is a very valuable piece of qualification in the IT industry, especially in the field of networking. Any CCENT certified individual is worth his weight in gold and on attaining certification is deluged with offers from establishments having small networks.
Keeping such a coveted qualification available for the numerous aspiring applicants regardless of age, sex and previous educational qualifications speaks volumes for the sagacity and magnanimity of the CISCO administration.
A few words about CISCO.
CISCO Systems INC is a global conglomerate of gigantic proportions, having 65000 employees on its payroll. Its corporate history is a testimony to the open market trade which is advocated so strongly by the US and it is this reflection of this open enterprise we see reflected in their corporate culture trickling down to its academic offshoots.
The company was founded by Len Bosack and Sandy Lerner a married couple who were on the staff of Stanford University. They together with Richard Troiano founded the company way back in 1984. CISCO was the first company to develop and sell a router.
Taking advantage of the dot com boom of the 90’s and the general fascination and mania surrounding computers and computer companies in those days, the company grew in leaps and bounds and in 1990 was listed on the NASDAQ stock exchange. It acquired several companies like Stratacom and Cerent Corporation and were the first to introduce Voice- over- internet and home networking. In 2000 CISCO was the most valuable company in the world. Its growth is a classic example of American free enterprise. Its academic wing seems to be saying to the aspiring CCENT trainee—if we can do it so can you, No expensive college or University degree is required for this qualification. All you need is to pay is the $125 exam fee pass the exam and make your fortune.
Mind you this company has branches in just about all the countries in the world and their promising message means a lot to the Indian peasant’s son bent over his plough or to the Masai tribesman’s son tending to his cattle in Africa.. They seem to be saying,’ Leave your dull pathetic life behind.
I’m offering you a chance to own the world. All you have to do is to seize it.’
A CCENT qualified individual is one of the highest paid IT professionals around
He is treated like a king at his workplace and what’s more he can use his qualification for a stepping stone for the more coveted qualification the CMNA which can assure him a posting in an establishment having a larger network
Once he is qualified and has the basics of computer science at his finger tips –the sky is the limit. If he doesn’t like networking all he has to do to do is branch out to medical electronics or defence or military electronics which are two opposing fields but employing the same principles of electronics and computers. Its products are there for everyone to see from jet fighter electronics and laser guided bombs to MRI and CT machines, from
