Author: johnlysette

Cisco Systems is a name identical with high-quality networking hardware. It’s no wonder that many companies build their network around this brand. In accumulation to their vigorous feature-set and useful product life, Cisco products
also have great investment protection and can be resold to help recoup a portion of their cost.

There are many reasons companies get rid of hardware. Sometimes companies replace dead equipment that is no longer functioning properly. In this instance, equipment can be salvaged or recycled, which amounts to getting small amounts of money for the value of the raw materials. However, more often companies are either upgrading or downsizing, in which case the equipment they are selling on the secondary market is still functioning perfectly but is no longer an integral part of a network.

The secondary market is a great, safe way to purchase used Cisco hardware. There are many vendors spread out across the country offering discounted gear and product guarantees. Because most companies actually house inventory, buyers stand a good chance of getting a required order filled quickly and packaged professionally. However, distance is still a factor when placing an order, as shipping charges can add substantial cost to an out of state transaction.

Finding the right company for you can be accomplished by performing specific searches in any of the major search engines. Instead of simply searching for “buy used cisco” or some other relatively general term, you can modify your search by adding a qualifying geo-specific keyword such as “San Francisco” or “sf.” The search phrase “San Francisco used cisco” will return a number of companies that are located in your geographic region, and thus will minimize shipping costs and transit time. Also, by using Yahoo’s local search filter, you can perform a general search like “buy used cisco” and then filter results to show only those companies that are physically located close by. All you need is to be logged into a Yahoo account to take advantage of this feature.

Click here to view the embedded video.

Specialized technology vendors may also offer full-service liquidation services to manage all aspects of the buying process, which minimizes the effort required on the part of the seller. Liquidation services make the most sense for companies with large amounts of hardware that they need to unload. Instead of finding buyers for individual pieces and sourcing a salvage company to recycle the unusable equipment, you can work with one point of contact who will manage all the logistics, transportation, and valuation of an entire lot of gear. This allows you to focus your energy on your core, revenue-producing activities.

The timeline from your initial communication and RFQ to an offer and full payment can depend on both the company and the size and type of the lot. Some companies offer a quote and deposit payment in as little as 48-hours of a RFQ, with the remaining balance paid upon receipt and inspection of all equipment. Your final offer will take into account the model/make, condition, and the current market demand for the used hardware. The entire process can take anywhere from 5 working days to 2 weeks. Make sure to find a company that you feel comfortable working with, as there a quite a few small brokers that do not have the capital or bandwidth to efficiently handle your business.

With adequate research and due diligence, you can find the appropriate marketplace to sell your used Cisco hardware and receive fair value for your surplus equipment.
Many businesses are now opting to employ refurbished Cisco routers and switches. It also has become a common practice to deploy used Cisco IT equipment, as evidenced by the emergence of reliable vendors specializing in refurbished and re-marketed Cisco equipment.

As an IT Manager, you should always be prepared for an IT audit request. By being prepared for any kind of hardware auditing request, you are in a stronger negotiation position with manufacturers – when the threat of an IT audit is no longer menacing. Moreover, IT departments are frequently required to reconcile their physical inventory with an electronic inventory to meet various regulatory and financial requirements. This can be cumbersome, unless you have implemented an IT Asset Management tool that allows you to manage and audit your entire computer inventory easily.

Beyond the complexities of hardware audits, software asset management introduces even greater challenges — for example, auditing a hardware device for the software it contains, and the complexity of software recognition – mapping the many files found to licensed applications and units in the accounting system.

To perform an IT audit you need to create a detailed computer inventory of all computer assets in your network, including a total hardware audit of PCs, servers, laptops, printers and other types of hardware devices. The network inventory also covers network printers, switches and other devices. Once you created a baseline, you need to have the tools and processes in place to update the inventory with any changes to your assets so it remains accurate and valuable. By automating the process, you will quickly see how it is a much more efficient and thorough process than the all-to-familiar headache of a manual hardware audit.

What properties to I need to audit?

You should keep track of the key hardware properties including RAM , Processors, Video and monitors, Sound cards, Local Drives, Network shares, PC shares, Printers, Modems and more. In addition, you need to keep track of all the software titles installed on each PC on your network. Audit events should keep track of any software that is installed and removed from your computers, user login events and changes to your hardware configuration (for example, when memory is added or disks are removed).

There are tools in the market that makes your audit job much easier by automating the audit process and keeping track of changes to your assets.

SAManage is a leading provider of on-demand IT Asset Management services that makes it easy to audit your hardware and control your IT Assets. SAManage is a SaaS based system. You can finally forget about managing network audit software and start doing your auditing and discovery the on-demand way. SAManage can be easily deployed across multiple locations within minutes and provide visibility into complex IT infrastructures to ensure optimized IT asset utilization.

The mistake that a lot of people tend to make is letting the problem of a slow computer go unresolved, and their usual solution to this problem is to go out and buy a new machine. This is the vicious cycle of the average, less-knowledgeable computer user and they find that no matter how much money they spend they will end up having a slow machine, the same as before. Improving computer performance past and beyond the initial specs is actuality quite easy, all you have to do is manage a few tweaks that will restore your computer back to the way it was the first time you purchased it. These are just some of the tips and tricks you should know about, because they can help you bring back those joyous days of fast load and execution times.

One of the best ways to do this is to get a good antivirus and anti adware program – which guards against vicious computer programs, viruses, Trojans and even adware and malware from being installed on your system. These programs and files have the potential to seriously slow down your system or even make your computer crash. It isn’t just your time that is at risk, your precious data and work are also on the line when you don’t have a good antivirus and anti adware program installed. Don’t make the mistake of not investing a few dollars on the health of your computer because the alternative is far more expensive.

One other tip that you should definitely consider is to always use the scandisk and disk defragment tools that are available freely on all computers. These programs monitor the health of your disks and help to reorganize the data in a manner whereby the computer can easily access, without taking the time to sift through cluttered databanks. A fragmented disk that clutters up over time is inevitable, and the tools here will help eliminate the problem. All you have to do is to click on them and let the programs run overnight, or when ever you don’t need to use your computer, and once the scans are completed, you will definitely have a faster computer.

Another thing you should think about is the health of your registry. This little unassuming piece of information is just like the central nervous system of your body. Once something goes wrong with it, then the whole operating system will be affected. Time and constant use will always cause a lot of junk and clutter in the registry to accumulate, and common problems include bad data strings and invalid keys within its structure, which Windows will constantly run over and cause its performance to stutter. A good registry tool will solve all your problems and the thing is, there are a lot of good and free software out there that you can use. Once you have it installed in the computer, it will identify all your problems and clean them out, leaving you with a means to improving computer performance.

If you are having problems with slow PC, the fastest way to fix it is to attend to the problem at the quickest time possible. There are many reasons of slow PC problems in a system, the most common of which is virus or spyware attack which can, in fact, be very annoying. In order to get rid of these PC problems, just keep in mind these simple steps on how to cure slow PC and prevent the same problem from ever happening again:

Do not keep trash in your computer. Ofcourse, this step can be relatively easy for some who can accurately identify which among these data coming in and out of your computers can be considered trash, and which are essentials. Effectively solving most computer problems still work on the same concept that ‘practice makes perfect’. For example, knowing that a certain FS6519.dll.vbs is actually a common thumb drive worm, it is expected that the moment you see the similar file in your USB drives, you must delete them. Never click on these files if you do not want the infection to spread any further.

Get the best antivirus software. If you are thinking about installing one of the latest antivirus programs out online, think of them as front weaponries-if you fail on protecting your frontier, you will be more vulnerable to inside attacks. A computer’s firewall is essentially the battleground of every antivirus and spyware trying to compete for the disk space in your computers. Therefore, your antispyware or antivirus software should be stronger than the culprits. That is, these PC guardians should be able to detect symptoms of spyware attacks even before the virus thrives or multiplies in your system.

Update the software regularly. For any antivirus software to be consistent in keeping your computers protected from any forms of viruses and infections, it should be updated on a regular basis. Most antivirus programs offer automatic updates. They usually release recent virus signature updates weekly, depending on the type of antivirus offering this PC protection. For some programs, the virus update is downloaded directly from the website the moment the company launches these updates. Therefore, it is recommended that you choose the antivirus software that offers this feature of automatically downloading updates into your computers in a regular basis, the best of which is daily or weekly.

Take card of your registry. The only way to effectively solve slow PC problems is to keep in mind that the most vulnerable component of your computers is your Windows Registry, which you should protect more than anything else. First things first-clean up your registry files and avoid getting a fragmented disk where most slow PC problems usually root. If you think that your registry program can do so much better than keeping your registry files secured-there is indeed more, because you can also be protected from the common virus threats, Trojans, spywares and even the most unrecognized computer culprits that your system should get rid of.

Do you ask yourself why do I have a slow pc? You can learn the exact problem and FIX it today at www.Registry-Cleaners-Exposed.com

Tired of the same problems of PC running slow? You do not actually have to wait for any miracle, because the answer is right in front of you: get the maximum protection and clean your PC all by yourself, for free! Here’s how:

Adjust your startup settings. If you have already visited your Windows Configuration Utility, there won’t be any problem on this step to solve your PC running slow problems. However, if you are a newbie (and there is definitely nothing wrong with being one!), follow these simple steps on how to get there: First, click the ‘Run’ command found in your startup items. Second, type in ‘msconfig’ and hit enter. A new dialog box will appear, which is entitled Windows Configuration Utility. This is where you will find the complete list of startup items in your computer. On the ‘Startup’ tab, you can easily enable or disable certain computer processes by just checking or unchecking these items. Here’s a tip: disable any of these malicious processes before they completely penetrate into your program files. A more advanced step is to physically locate where these malicious files are thriving, and then delete all the traces that they have created as they may actually have the capability to multiply and self-launch themselves without your knowledge. After you have made the changes, perform a quick restart with your PC and see the results.

Enable your firewall. The first base that your viruses would have to pass through is your firewall. This means that the weaker your firewall settings are, the greater the chances that you can be infected by a virus. Therefore, the easiest way to prevent any of these computer attacks is to enable your firewall configurations and set them to the maximum computer protection level, which is related to solving the problem of PC running slow. This also means that there might be some cookies or internet files which may have to be blocked from entering your computers; in the same manner that personal information and user identity will have to be prevented to be transmitted to a potentially unsecured third party. All of these things would have to keep your computer protected from viruses which are the culprits of PC running slow.

Install the best registry program in the market. The best registry software that you can find in the internet need not be very complicated to try. In fact, those programs that have a very friendly interface will gain the advantage of being more widely used by computer enthusiasts. There is no better way to solve the problem of PC running slow than to keep your registry entries protected from fragmentation and corruption that can be caused by virus attacks in your PC. If you think that you still need more protection, do not worry because even these softwares that specialize in protecting your registry files can also be powerful weapons against the common viruses that any computer can be held vulnerable to. Just be sure to update the software regularly in order to get the maximum protection possible in these registry protection softwares that are widely available online.

Remember that time when booting your computer took just a few seconds and you had fun using your system. Its not that hard to regain that performance with a little maintenance here and there.

Performing certain pc maintenance on a regular basis will get and keep your system running as it should. To get your system back to the speed demon it once was you should first backup your system. Stop before before this or any work on your system and backup those important files,if not your entire pc.

Be sure you have a emergency boot disk on hand and stored in a safe, secure place. After you know you have a good backup of at least your important files, and a boot disk made, you’re ready to get your computer back up to that peek performance it once had.You do this by performing the following steps.

Clean Up Your System Taking the time to cleanup your hard drive by deleting unneeded files will speed up your system.Temporary internet filers, rarely used programs and recycle bin files should also be deleted.

To clean up your hard drive, click Start,All Programs, Accessories,System Tools, and Disk Cleanup. Select the drive you want to clean most likely the C:,and click OK. Place a check mark next to the items you want deleted and click OK.

You can also remove Windows components that you don’t use. Start Disk Cleanup and click the More Options tab. Click “Clean up” under Windows components. You can remove games, accessories and other non-essential Windows components.

Also, the More Options tab allows Windows XP users to clear old restore points. These old restore points hog space over time. Just click the “Clean up” button under System Restore and then Yes.

Consolidate Your Files Its easy to have different files containing digital pictures.Get a photo organizer to put photos in one file and youwill have consolidated to save space.Do the same ifyou have video clips and don’t forget to remove all duplicate files or folders.

Search For Large Unsued Files Perform a search of your hard drive to find and remove large files.Click Start,Search All Files And Folders andclick on the arrow next to “What size is it?”.Then click on large to search.

You will most likely find some rarely used music and videofiles that can be deleted.Perform such a search once amonth to find those large files lurking on your computer.

Lighten The Load Your hard drive will slow down once it reaches about 80 percent capacity,no matter how large it may be.Take the time to free up space by removing those unsed programs.

Start by clicking on Start,Control Panel, double click Add or Remove Programs and find those programs that you don’t or rarely use. If you have Windows XP,you’ll see the size of the program, how often it has been used and when it was used last.

If Windows 89 or ME,click on the program you want to remove and click Add/Remove. Reduce The Bootup Process You can greatly reduce the bootup time and also free up memory by disabling certain programs.

Instant Message programs, media players, for example, will slow down the boot time big time. See what programs are loading during bootup by clicking on Start,Run,and typing “msconfig” without the quotes and click OK.

Now click the Startup Tab and the programs listed are the ones starting during bootup. Some of these names are easy to understand but some you have to figure out.

You can visit http://www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.php to see a list of entries and explanation that will help you in figuring out which programs can be disabled.

Clear the boxes for the programs you don’t need. Click Apply and OK. You’ll be prompted to restart your computer. After restarting you’ll receive a message stating that the System Configuration Utility is in Diagnostic or Selective Startup mode.

Just check the box next to “don’t show this message again” and click OK. And you are done.Your boot process should greatly improveas well normal operation of your system.

Take careful note of the programs you disabled in case you need to go back and enable a program.

Computer hardware training is a specialised course. One can specialise in computer hardware in a computer engineering degree course or in a computer science degree course run by a college or university. Alternatively, there are less recognized but equally informative computer hardware training courses which are run by commercial institutes offering computer education. A computer hardware training course run even by these institutes will offer a degree at the end as computer hardware training is a specialised vocation and requires a certificate to prove it specially.

There are many web sites which provide information on computer hardware. However, these online tutorials do not provide a complete computer hardware training as an online tutorial will not include any practical exercises or practical classes. A computer hardware training course run by a commercial institute may sometimes lead to the A+ degree. The A+ certification is also known as the ComTia A+ Certification (after the Computing Technology Industry Association). It is vendor neutral which means it covers products made by different hardware and software manufacturers. The course outline is roughly as follows: basics of computer installation, configuration, diagnosing, basic networking and preventive maintenance. Other topics in this course are the domains of security, safety, and even environmental issues and professional standards. A+ boot camps are intensive training courses and they include a lot of practical or hands-on classes.

Computer hardware training is usually essential if one wishes to work as a computer hardware technician. Having a college or university degree opens up the way to work as a computer hardware engineer (the difference between a technician and an engineer being largely restricted to the salaries offered).

A certificate from one of the commercial computer hardware training instititutes opens up the opportunity to work in big firms and at a high salary. If one is looking to work for smaller firms, such as shops selling computers and providing computer repairing services, such certificates are usually not required. One can be self-taught or learn from experience and may not have to possess a certificate from a formal computer technician training course. Salaries offered in such smaller firms are usually much lower than those offered in bigger firms.

It depends on one’s resources as to what type of training one wishes to receive. If one has the financial resources and also a basic familiarity with computers and some computer knowledge, then going in for a certificate computer training course is advisable.

Computer hardware training is always supplemented with computer software training. However, it must be pointed out that the reverse is not always the case. Basic computer hardware training is considered quite advanced whereas computer software training forms the rudimentary form of computer training. One of the reasons for this being that whereas practical exercises in using computer software can be a less expensive affair, practical exercises using computer hardware components is usually more expensive. These are some of the basics of computer hardware training that one needs to be aware about. For actual training, one needs to join a professionally taught course.
